Waiting for Engraftment...T plus 1 Day

Hola Amigos and Maties,

After her Cord Blood Stem Cell Transplant, Trudy will experience low blood cells in general and zero White Blood Cells. This period could last up to 21 days, although they are administering some drugs that should speed that process up. When the cells begin to show growth it is called engraftment. We are praying for the day we will celebrate this milestone of Trudy's progress!

Trudy feels pretty well today...no fevers, generally less nausea, no pains. However, the effects of all of this does take its inevitable toll. I was talking with a person who has had Stem Cell Transplant procedures before, and he said there are feelings that the patient has that they just cannot explain. He also said something that in its simplicity is so very profound: "Every day in the hospital is one day closer to the day you get out of the hospital." We like that thought.

Trudy was so pleased to have Wendy and Katy here for the big day. They traveled together and got here Sunday night. They were a great help in time of need and a great lift to our spirits. After some good visiting this morning, they returned to their homes and families.

Something unique just happened...we had a visit from our pastor and his wife...first time that's happened in some 21 years! No, not what you're thinking, it's just that with Robert being a pastor until his recent appointment to the Director of Missions position, it just struck us that we now have a pastor...way cool! Thanks Brother Charles and Brenda, for the kind visit and the meaningful prayer.

We shall never ever be able to express just how much we appreciate your prayers but please know that each one is important and special. Thanks a million!

Blessings,
Trudy and Robert
