Trudy's Summer 2009 Update

Hello Friends and Family,

Well, it has been a busy Summer for Trudy...and a blessed one at that! We thank God for the great experiences and the good health she has enjoyed.

In June, even though Trudy was in the midst of a tough case of "Shingles", we journeyed to Louisville, Kentucky, for a wonderful visit with Brian, Jessica, Meredith, and Brody. This trip coincided with the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention, where both Robert and Brian were involved in various ways. We were so blessed to spend quality time with our son and precious family.

In July, with Trudy feeling somewhat better, we drove out to Williamsburg, Virginia, to visit with Robert's brother Jack, his wonderful wife, Karen, and their dog, Snickers. Also, we were excited to visit with their daughter, Tami; their son Jon, his wife, Jeni, and daughters, Lidia and Jessie. We were privileged to visit the National Museum of the Marine Corps and Quantico... very special places considering the multiple generations of Robert's family involvement in this branch of our country's military. Jack is Lt. Col. (Ret.) from 23 years in the Corps, and we were "button-popping" proud to accompany him on this visit.

Trudy began Month 26 of the Maintenance Protocol today. She is feeling stronger and better with each day. The shingles have been very painful and bothersome, but they are ever so slowly getting better. Please lift prayers on her behalf during the coming weeks that her bone marrow will continue to gain in health and that the spectre of a Bone Marrow Transplant will not materialize as a factor for her, that the Leukemia and all cancer related issues will stay away.

Blessings, Trudy and Robert

P.S.: We also want you to know that Robert begins a new area of ministry on August 1, 2009. He will no longer pastor Bethel Baptist Church, but will serve all of the Baptist churches in central Louisiana as their Director of Missions. We will continue to be members of Bethel...for which we are very thankful.
