Hello Everyone,
At 2:00 p.m. today, Trudy was discharged from her Course Two hospitalization. We have decided to stay here in Houston until her platelets and white blood cells recover. Her hospital doctor recommended this approach and ultimately, we had to agree with his reasoning. These "between" treatment times are much more of a challenge than we first thought. After the chemo, her "counts" fall to practically zero. This means, that while she is in this condition, she is totally vulnerable to any kind of infection or virus. As we discovered on her last "between" time, these complications are very serious, very sudden, and very difficult to treat. We feel that Trudy needs the expertise of her Leukemia team and the M. D. Anderson Hospital to help her through this time.
Please continue to pray for her. We knew from the start that her treatment protocol is very difficult. A vicious cycle of chemo and sickness followed by a slow recovery to feeling good, followed by the next cycle . . . until she has completed eight consecutive cycles. So, she has completed 25% of the chemo . . . and that is a major Praise Note! Trudy is a terrific patient, a model of faith in the Lord, and she is absolutely dedicated to her new job . . . battling cancer. Thank you for your love, support, and prayers. Each person (we don't even know how many there are of you!!) brings hope and encouragement. We are eternally grateful.
Blessings,
Robert and Trudy
