Full Speed but Low Platelets

Hello Friends and Family,

As I was saying, Trudy had some wonderful "Grandma" time with baby Meredith who is a big One Year Old! Happy Birthday Meredith! What a sweet baby girl.

Trudy begins her monthly cycle of Maintenance Chemo today. She has already begun the mega-doses of Prednisone and is receiving the IV Vincristine this afternoon. She remains off the oral chemo meds that have a downward effect on her counts, but the Prednisone and Vincristine are actually helpful in treating low platelets...so, they continue. Prednisone is just plain weird! It does strange things to a body (isn't that right, Jack) including an almost certain "no sleep" night for Trudy tonight. She will sleep better the rest of the five days of Prednisone, but then she will have to fight through the effects of suddenly stopping the powerful substance. Vincristine is pretty well tolerated. The primary side effect is that she will experience some muscle cramps that can last for minutes and be mighty uncomfortable. Thankfully, she is feeling very well as is reflected in the pictures and she will fight through the discomfort without missing a beat in her teaching and other activities.

Thanks for the prayers...especially regarding the low Platelets and the continued remission of the Leukemia. As always, we pray that her strength will continue to grow, that she will manufacture lots of platelets, that she will fend off any viruses, and that the Leukemia and all related stuff will stay away.

Blessings,
Trudy and Robert
